Sherman is a long, strong, athletic forward who has the versatility to play both forward positions. He has the prototypical size and athleticism of a SF and the skills of the PF. Sherman is known for his athleticism, strength, and high motor. He possesses many mismatches as he has the size to take any SF to the rack and has the quickness and shooting ability to score on any PF. Gay is a two way player and is a lock down defender. He can guard PF, SF, and SG positions. Sherman has carved a nice niche for himself in the French market playing over 9 years in both ProA and ProB. In 2010 he was named to the All-French ProB 2nd team and the All-French ProB Defensive Player of the Year in 2011. Also in 2008 Sherman played in the NBA Summer League for the Los Angeles Lakers.

In his senior season (2003-04) at LMU, Sherman averaged 16ppg, 5.9rpg, and 1.1apg. He was named All-WCC Defensive Player of the Year in 2004 and selected to the All-WCC Team. Prior to LMU, Gay played at Dominguez High School. The Dons finished ranked No. 1 in the nation according to USA Today in his senior season.


Sherman was on born on July 12, 1982 in Carson, CA. He is the son of Sherman, Sr. and Loretta Gay. He has one brother and one sister. Sherman received his Bachelor of Science in Business. His favorite basketball player is James Worthy.
